INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS FOR BOSCH PRODUCTS

By

30 April 2018

Newly launched IP-based technologies by Bosch have been hailed in two of the world’s most prestigious product design contests, the Red Dot Awards and iF Design Awards. The Praesensa Call station has been selected from thousands of entries worldwide to bear the much coveted Red Dot accolade. Meanwhile, the Dicentis Interpreter desk has also been recognised with a renowned iF Design Award.

With origins that date back to 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is internationally recognised as a seal of quality, drawing entries from all over the world to compete across 48 categories in the hope of winning the favour of a jury of esteemed peers. The iF Design Award is equally demanding, drawing 6402 entries from 54 countries in 2018, with a jury of 63 design experts adjudicating over the contenders.

The Red Dot Award follows widespread acclaim of the Praesensa Call station’s tight focus on the user experience. Alongside use of the Omneo IP architecture, supporting Dante and Power over Ethernet (PoE), key features include an inviting and intuitive touchscreen interface, while up to four dedicated extensions add tactile buttons with multi-colour LEDs for quick zone/function selection and status feedback. Ensuring maximum flexibility, the Praesensa Call station can be mounted on a table-top, on a wall or flush mounted depending on requirements.

Omneo IP is also at the heart of the Dicentis Interpreter desk, facilitating quick and easy integration with third party systems. Part of the wider Dicentis family, supporting up to 100 interpreted languages, the new desk has been created to bring more flexibility and functionality to interpreters alongside a best-in-class user experience.

“The design of our conference products is very important to us, both in respect of a product’s aesthetic value within a meeting room, and the experience that our users have with it,” commented Lars van den Heuvel, Bosch Building Technologies/Director Global Product Management Conference and Discussion. “We start very early with the design process as a core element within each development project. Winning the Red Dot and IF Design award is a recognition of the great effort that we put into this.”

In addition to the awards for the Praesensa Call station and the Dicentis Interpreter desk, the Red Dot jury left the wider Bosch Group with cause for celebration, as both Electro-Voice and Dynacord received Red Dot Awards for the Evolve 50 portable column speaker and the L3600FD DSP power amplifier, respectively.
