Two new DVI extenders join Gefen’s growing selection of extension solutions with handy product features and streamlined installation options.

Extra Long Range DVI Extender

The EXT-DVI-1CAT5-ELR is an extra long range extender over a single cat5 and provides a cost-effective solution for longer-range transport of uncompressed DVI using HDBaseT.

It supports resolutions up to 1920×1200 (WUXGA) and extends DVI up to 150m using a single cat5e cable, which is 50m further than previous models. Its operating mode helps preserve power when the product is not in active use, surface-mountable enclosures allow for easy and secure installation and locking power supply connectors ensure uninterrupted performance.

The extender is capable of HDCP and HPD pass-through, and can also be configured via DIP switches for maximum range or bandwidth, low power consumption (auto sleep mode), and always-on operation.

DVI Extender with Galvanic Isolator

The EXT-DVI-1CAT6-GI is a DVI extender with galvanic isolator that sends DVI video up to 40m using one cat6 cable, or up to 30m using one cat5e, and supports video resolutions up to 1920×1200 (WUXGA).

Gefen’s galvanic isolation design provides up to 5kV of isolation between the source and downstream equipment, decreasing the risk of electric shock or system damage. This is especially important in sensitive applications such as in medical and healthcare-related installations. This new technology was developed to enable the use of copper cables instead of fibre optic cables in applications where electrical isolation is a must and the signal extension range is short, and fortuitously provides integrators with an alternative to use more economical cabling. Typical applications include medical imaging systems where certain components of the system (such as endoscopy or laparoscopy cameras) come in direct contact with the patient and the operator.
