SONY & CISCO COLLABORATE ON 4K/HD IP NETWORKING
Sony Imaging Products and Solutions along with Cisco announced a new global collaboration to create IP networking technologies for 4K/HD live production applications in the broadcast, media and entertainment industries. The agreement between the two companies will give customers worldwide an expanded range of flexible, proven and reliable IP systems.
Sony manufactures live production systems which offer 4K/HD system cameras, production switchers and servers. In recent years, Sony has fully supported the IP transition, delivering 4K/HD studio cameras, OB trucks and remote production solutions for the broadcast live production market. Now more than 70 companies support the IP Live Alliance. In addition, Sony has led industry efforts for AV over IP standardisation, working with JT-NM, AIMS and AMWA.
Cisco is a leader in flexible and reliable IP networking and developed Professional Media Network (PMN) solutions for the media and entertainment markets, including the Nexus 9000 series switches and Data Centre Network Manager (DCNM).
“Cisco is known for its great technology and strong worldwide sales and marketing power. Working with them will help us expand our 4K/HD IP live production solutions, combining our advanced broadcast equipment with their latest IP networking technologies to satisfy our customers,” said Masakazu Murata, General Manager, Media Segment Business Division of Sony.
“This announcement demonstrates how our long-standing relationship with Sony is growing, and continues to add value for our customers,” said Yousuf Khan, vice president of technical marketing, INSBU, Cisco. “Our collaboration for live 4K/HD marries the best of both technology platforms and helps us meet the needs our customers have today to up-level their broadcast production.”
Sony and Cisco are working closely on system verification and global sales and marketing collaborations. Additional plans will be announced in the coming months.
